Macworld has flagged a deal on Ugreen's Nexode 65W power adapter, currently priced at $25. That's a 38 percent savings and the lowest price the publication says it has seen since a Black Friday sale last year, when it was a dollar cheaper.

The appeal here is port consolidation. The Nexode packs four ports into a block measuring 2.64 by 1.65 by 1.5 inches: three USB-C and one USB-A. According to Macworld, the left-most USB-C ports can each deliver the full 65 watts when used alone. When every port is occupied, the top-most USB-C port maxes out at 30 watts—still enough, Macworld says, for fast-charging iPhones and iPads.

For travelers and desk-dwellers tired of juggling multiple chargers, the single-block approach could simplify packing. The 65W output is also sufficient for a MacBook Air, and Ugreen claims it can charge that laptop to over 50 percent in half an hour.

What makes the small size possible is gallium nitride (GaN) technology. Macworld notes that GaN is more efficient at delivering power without generating excessive heat, which allows manufacturers to shrink charger bodies. The plug prongs also fold flat, a small but practical detail for tossing the adapter into a bag without snagging other items.

Whether this is a meaningful upgrade depends on your current setup. If you already own a high-wattage USB-C charger that handles your laptop and phone, the Nexode may be redundant. But if you're juggling separate bricks for a MacBook, iPhone, and iPad—or if you frequently find yourself short on outlets—a single 65W charger with four ports could reduce clutter.

The caveat is power sharing. When all four ports are in use, the top USB-C port drops to 30W, which may not fast-charge a power-hungry laptop. For simultaneous laptop and phone charging, you'll want to use one of the left-most ports for the laptop to get the full 65W.

Macworld frames the deal as a limited-time price drop, warning that the cost will climb back up. As with any deal, availability and pricing can change quickly. The publication did not specify an end date for the promotion.

For anyone considering the switch, the main trade-off is between port convenience and the reality that total power is shared across devices. But at $25, the Nexode undercuts many single-port chargers of similar wattage—making it an easy experiment for those curious about downsizing their charging gear.
