Ayaneo has revealed its latest retro-inspired handheld, the Konkr Pocket Advance, during a recent product sharing stream. The device takes design cues from the classic Game Boy Advance but incorporates contemporary features and performance.
Display and Controls
The Konkr Pocket Advance sports a 3.5-inch LCD screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, matching the original's proportions, but with a significantly sharper resolution of 960 x 640. Controls have been expanded to include a full set of ABXY buttons, additional menu buttons, and extra shoulder buttons, offering more input options than the original.
Modern Connectivity and Features
In line with current expectations, the handheld includes a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, a microSD card slot for storage expansion, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. A 3.5mm headphone jack and a volume wheel round out the physical features, adding a touch of nostalgia while ensuring practicality.
Color Options
Ayaneo has confirmed two colorways: a navy blue that echoes the original indigo GBA, and a coral orange reminiscent of the Spice Orange variant. These colors are likely to appeal to collectors and fans of the original device.
Pricing and Availability
As of now, Ayaneo has not announced a price or release date for the Konkr Pocket Advance. The company has a history of limited production runs, such as with its Pocket Micro 2, which sold out quickly. Whether the Konkr Pocket Advance will see a broader rollout remains to be seen.
