Rockstar Games announced that an extended preview of Grand Theft Auto VI will air on August 27th, with Netflix subscribers getting an early screening at 3PM ET before the YouTube premiere at 9PM ET. The partnership echoes a previous collaboration between Netflix and Rockstar, which brought the original GTA trilogy to mobile devices.
Netflix's VP of Nonfiction Series, Brandon Riegg, touted the partnership as a way to reward fans' anticipation, saying the company is honored to debut the next chapter of the franchise with its members first.
The announcement comes as GTA VI nears its long-awaited launch, slated for November 19th on PS5 and Xbox. The game has been in development for years, with Rockstar confirming work in 2022 and releasing two trailers since 2023, following a major leak of gameplay footage. The original GTA V, released over a decade ago, has sold nearly 230 million copies, according to parent company Take-Two, and remains popular on platforms like Steam and Twitch.
While Rockstar has kept busy with updates for GTA Online and the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, anticipation for GTA VI has been building. The game's release date has already prompted other publishers to adjust their schedules to avoid direct competition.
No further details about the extended preview have been revealed at this time.
