Vivo X Fold 6 Goes Global: Big Camera, Familiar Shape

Vivo's X Fold 6 is now launching internationally, bringing a 200MP main camera and large battery to a design that predates the latest foldable form-factor shift.

Vivo has begun the international rollout of its X Fold 6, a book-style foldable that first went on sale in China this June. The move was reported by The Verge.

The X Fold 6 retains a tall, nearly square shape when unfolded, with a 6.51-inch cover screen in a 20:9 aspect ratio and an 8.02-inch inner display. That design is consistent with Vivo’s earlier foldables and with many competing models released before recent shifts toward shorter, wider proportions in devices like the Samsung Z Fold 8 and Apple iPhone Duo.

According to the report, the inner screen’s crease is more visible than on some rivals, and the phone carries an IP59 rating – a solid but not top-tier level of dust and water resistance.

Where the X Fold 6 stands out is imaging. Its main camera uses a 1/1.4-inch-type, 200-megapixel sensor, which the report describes as one of the largest on any foldable, exceeded in size only by Huawei. It is joined by 50-megapixel telephoto and ultrawide cameras that are also said to look decent. Power comes from a 6,900mAh battery, and the device runs on a custom “Super Edition” of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip.

At launch outside China, Vivo did not disclose pricing or specific markets in advance. The Verge noted it would update its article once that information is available. A full camera test is also pending, though early expectations are that the main sensor should outperform most other foldables.

Confirmed facts vs. interpretation

Confirmed: The X Fold 6 launched in China in June and is now releasing internationally. The cover display is 6.51 inches with a 20:9 aspect ratio; the inner display is 8.02 inches and nearly square. The main camera is 200 megapixels with a 1/1.4-inch-type sensor. Telephoto and ultrawide cameras are 50 megapixels each. The battery is 6,900mAh, and the chip is a custom MediaTek Dimensity 9500 “Super Edition.” The IP rating is IP59. The crease is visible. Vivo did not provide price or market details at launch. The Verge plans to test the camera and update with pricing and availability.

Interpretation: The X Fold 6’s form factor now appears dated relative to newer, shorter and wider foldables from Apple and Samsung. The camera hardware is positioned as a key strength, potentially better than most foldable competitors. The IP59 rating, while good, is not the best available. The crease visibility is a minor drawback compared with some rivals.

What’s missing

Pricing, specific launch countries, and hands-on camera performance are not yet known. Without those, it is hard to assess value or real-world advantages over existing foldables.

Who should consider it?

Based on the available information, the X Fold 6 is aimed at users who prioritize camera quality and battery capacity in a foldable. Those who prefer the newer, wider aspect ratios or a less noticeable display crease may want to look elsewhere. The lack of pricing and market details makes it difficult to recommend for a specific audience at this stage. A full review, especially of the camera, will be needed to determine whether the hardware advantages translate into meaningful everyday benefits.
