Microsoft has quietly implemented price increases for its Xbox consoles in European markets, with the entry-level Xbox Series S now retailing at €499.99 in the EU and £429.99 in the UK. The new pricing, which took effect on August 1, reflects a steeper hike than the one announced for the US in June.
In the US, Microsoft had already communicated that prices would rise by $100 to $150 depending on the model. However, the updated Xbox store pages reveal that EU customers are now paying between €150 and €200 more, while UK buyers face increases of £130 to £170 for the Series S and Series X.
Currency conversion places the effective entry price for European customers at roughly $575, making the region's cost notably higher than the US starting price.
These increases coincide with Microsoft's earlier warning that storage and memory costs are expected to double again, putting further pressure on hardware pricing. The company is not alone in this trend; both Sony and Nintendo have also announced price hikes for their consoles in recent weeks.
The price adjustments come amid a broader memory shortage that has been affecting the electronics industry, though Microsoft has not explicitly linked the European-specific increases to that factor in its announcements.
